VISITING RESEARCHERS

St. Joseph Bay State Buffer & Aquatic Preserves Center

The St. Joseph Bay Preserves Center provides facilities support and overnight accommodations to individuals conducting research, education, resource management and other projects consistent with the goals and objectives of the St. Joseph Bay State Buffer and Aquatic Preserves and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.  The following provides information on facilities, usage and reservations.

FACILITIES

Guests must bring their own towels and bed linens.

Room 1:  1 full bed, 2 twin beds, 1 bathroom with tub/shower, sink and toilet.

Room 1A (adjoins with Room 1):  4 twin beds and 2 desks.

Room 3:  4 twin beds, 1 desk, 1 bathroom with tub/shower, sink and toilet.

Room 4:  1 full bed, 1 desk, 1 bathroom with tub/shower, sink and toilet.

Room 6:  2 full beds, 2 desks, 1 bathroom with tub/shower, sink and toilet.

Room 7:  2 full beds, 1 desk, 1 bathroom with tub/shower, sink and toilet.

Room 7A (adjoins with Room 7):  4 twin beds and 2 desks.

Guest Laundry, Room 2:  Washer and Dryer (guests must provide their own laundry supplies).

Guest Kitchen, Room 5:  6 person dining table, refrigerator with freezer, stove, oven, sink, microwave, coffeepot and kitchenware.

Lodge:  Wi-Fi Internet access, 2 restrooms, accommodates up to 60 people.

Lodge Kitchen:  Refrigerator with freezer, 2 stoves, 2 ovens, 2 sinks, 2 microwaves, dishwasher, coffeepot and kitchenware.

 

FEE DONATIONS SCHEDULE

The Friends of St. Joseph Bay Preserves, Inc., a non-profit citizen support organization for the St. Joseph Bay State Buffer Preserve and the St. Joseph Bay State Aquatic Preserve, facilitates the operation of the Preserves Center accommodations.  Our overnight facilities are available to eligible individuals and groups conducting research and volunteer projects.  Fee donations (tax deductible) are accepted to help offset the costs associated with maintenance and operation of the facilities. 

 

FEE DONATIONS:

Student:  $10 per night

Non-student:  $15 per night

 

Fee donations will automatically initiate membership to the Friends of St. Joseph Bay Preserves, Inc.  Please see "About SJBP" for details on membership and benefits.

Payment must be received in advance or on the day of arrival.

FACILITY USE & MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES*

Please leave rooms in the condition you found them or better.  Cleaning supplies are available in the Guest Kitchen (Room 5).

All food and beverages must be removed from the premises upon departure.

All trash must be removed to the dumpster in the parking area.

All dishes and cookware should be washed and stored properly.

Turn off lights and air conditioning, and close blinds upon departure.

*Failure to comply with these guidelines may revoke future reservations at the Preserves Center facilities.

 

RESERVATIONS

Reservations must be made at least one week in advance and approved by the Buffer Preserve Manager.

Space is available on a first-reserve first-serve basis.

Please provide a minimum of 2 days notice should you need to cancel your reservation.

Before making a reservation, please review the Facility Use & Maintenance Guidelines.

Note:  A combination to access the facilities can be obtained prior to arrival should overnight guests arrive before or after regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST).
